Loggerhead Turtle Release on Anna Maria Island

Release dates and information are subject to change. Please check back as we get closer to the event date! All events listed below are FREE and open to the public. No registration needed!

Join the Sea Turtle Conservancy along with our partners, Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch and Hurricane Hanks, as we release a satellite tagged adult loggerhead turtle as part of our annual Tour de Turtles event! We plan to release the turtle around 8:30 am EST but encourage you to show up early to get an up-close look and ask the turtle team any questions. Shirts will be for sale for $25. Cash, card and Apple Pay accepted.
**The release will take place on Anna Maria Island. Because we are releasing a nesting sea turtle, the exact location cannot be announced until we location a nesting turtle. We will post the location on our Facebook page and Facebook event. In previous years, we’ve released on Coquina Beach near a numbered life guard stand. Due to the availability of a nesting turtle, potential back-up date for this release is June 24. Make sure to watch this space for updates!**
