This Father’s Day, give your dad a gift he will always remember. By adopting an endangered sea turtle, you and your dad can commemorate the father of sea turtle conservation, Dr. Archie Carr, and help these ancient mariners survive.
Sea turtles have roamed the Earth’s oceans for about 200 million years, since before the time of the dinosaurs – and long before man. Early explorers witnessed these fascinating creatures traveling the seas in large fleets. But today, all seven species face extinction—ocean pollution, poorly planned coastal development, and demand for turtle meat, eggs and shells have taken their toll on the turtle population.
“Threats to sea turtles and their ocean habitats also affect the health and well being of people. Adopting a sea turtle for Father’s Day is a great way to show our fathers how everyone can enjoy a healthy environment and ensure the company of amazing sea turtles for many generations to come,” said David Godfrey, Executive Director of Sea Turtle Conservancy.
For a tax-deductible donation of $30 or more, Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC) will send your dad a personalized adoption certificate, a sea turtle conservation guide, a logo sticker, a magnet and a one-year subscription to STC’s member newsletter, all in a beautiful folder.
